The World of Herbs: Medicinal, Magickal, Meliorative

SUNDAY ORACLE: Athena

Athena is a Greek warrior goddess. However, she does not war with weapons, she wages war with wits and creativity! Athena is there for us to call upon anytime for protection and guidance. She admonishes us to first look within. We have our own inner wisdom and Athena encourages us to use it.

The card Athena, from the Goddess Guidance Oracle by Doreen Virtue, states, “You know what to do. Trust your inner wisdom, and take appropriate action without delay.”

Many times we will second guess ourselves or we are so filled with self doubt that, even if we do know what to do, we are afraid to take action.

This week’s challenge is to listen to your inner wisdom, trust your intuition, and act on what you know to be right. If you still are unsure whether or not to follow your thoughts, call on Athena. Ask her to give you a sign, she will come to your aid and show you which ‘gut feeling’ to act on.

Remember that we are all imbued with all the wisdom of the Universe. We have only to access it. To do this, quiet your mind and put aside all worries and allow the answer to come. Sometimes having something to focus on will help to quiet the mind. Symbols of Athena are owl, gold or turquoise, or a yellow candle. I should also note here that yellow is the symbol of the element of air. Calling on the element of air will bring to us hidden knowledge and the secrets of the Universe.

My own choice for seeking inner wisdom, is a yellow candle and an owl. This has worked for me many times in my writing and in my decision making. As for the ‘taking action without delay,’ well, Athena, I am the Queen of Procrastination.

Many blessings this week and remember…Trust Your Gut!

I have never been one to quibble about my age. However, this year, 2010, I turned 50. I realized that life is going way too fast and I can't say that I am crazy about the direction it is going in. So, what else can one do except....blog about it!
