SUNDAY ORACLE: Athena

Athena is a Greek warrior goddess. However, she does not war with weapons, she wages war with wits and creativity! Athena is there for us to call upon anytime for protection and guidance. She admonishes us to first look within. We have our own inner wisdom and Athena encourages us to use it.

The card Athena, from the Goddess Guidance Oracle by Doreen Virtue, states, “You know what to do. Trust your inner wisdom, and take appropriate action without delay.”

Many times we will second guess ourselves or we are so filled with self doubt that, even if we do know what to do, we are afraid to take action.

This week’s challenge is to listen to your inner wisdom, trust your intuition, and act on what you know to be right. If you still are unsure whether or not to follow your thoughts, call on Athena. Ask her to give you a sign, she will come to your aid and show you which ‘gut feeling’ to act on.

Remember that we are all imbued with all the wisdom of the Universe. We have only to access it. To do this, quiet your mind and put aside all worries and allow the answer to come. Sometimes having something to focus on will help to quiet the mind. Symbols of Athena are owl, gold or turquoise, or a yellow candle. I should also note here that yellow is the symbol of the element of air. Calling on the element of air will bring to us hidden knowledge and the secrets of the Universe.

My own choice for seeking inner wisdom, is a yellow candle and an owl. This has worked for me many times in my writing and in my decision making. As for the ‘taking action without delay,’ well, Athena, I am the Queen of Procrastination.

Many blessings this week and remember…Trust Your Gut!

Detox The Mind!

As the goddess Coventina has encouraged us to indulge in purification, let us take that concept a little further to include our minds. Detoxifying and purifying the mind is the most beneficial thing that we can do to increase our own happiness. Of course, one of the first things to come to mind is meditation. And, there is good reason for that: Meditation works! No matter what belief system you adhere to, clearing out mind chatter will certainly bring peacefulness and calmness to your thoughts.

Meditating is not a difficult process. It can be a simple as finding a quiet place, sitting on the floor or in a chair with your feet flat on the floor, relax, and breathe. Focus on your breath. Thoughts will come in, they cannot help themselves. Thoughts move through our minds all day, every day. The trick here is to not try to force those thoughts out, but to acknowledge them and let them move on. Do not concentrate on any thought, good or bad. Let it go and bring your attention back to the breath.

Some find it easier to meditate with soft, relaxing music in the background. Others may find it much easier to listen to a guided meditation. Which ever way gets the job done for you, do it like that. Consistently dumping the junk out of your mind will give you clarity, increase your level of concentration, and your creativity.

Once you have everything cleared out, begin to fill your mind with positives. Look for good, uplifting statements or mantras. Choose those that you know will help you reach your goals. These can be goals for business, life, or spirituality. If you have never tried meditation before, you will be totally amazed at how this practice can make such a positive change in the way you feel physically and mentally.

Detox The Inside

Hopefully, you have had a wonderful, long soak in a relaxing detox bath. Now, let’s focus on the inside. Many diseases and illnesses stem from abuse of our digestive system. You are what you eat! Unfortunately, eating healthy, nutritious foods is becoming more and more difficult. If you do not live in an area that has an abundance of organic farms, chances are it is even more difficult to find fresh food that had not been treated with pesticides and other poisons. From time to time, detoxing the inside of your body is just as necessary and detoxing the outside.

Many are the benefits of body detoxification. The first, of course, is that you will rid your body of poisons. Next is the fact that detoxing your body can mean weight loss, and doesn’t want to lose weight. Best of all is your vital organs will begin to perform perfectly once again! When your organs are running at their peak, your whole body will be healthier. No doubt, you will notice that your skin looks much better and your energy levels will soar.

You may not want to do a major detox, such as the master cleanse or even doing any other long term detox. You can do simple cleansing with detox water. These are easy to make and you can customize them according to the benefits you need most. The very simplest way to detoxify is to drink lemon water each morning. Just a couple of slices of lemon in a glass of water and you are set.

The tastiest and most refreshing detox water, in my opinion, is cucumber mint water. The water will put the minerals out of the cucumber so that you not only get hydrated from the cucumber and the water, you also get the bonus of minerals. Mint adds a fresh cooling taste. You can also put lemon in with the cucumber mint to get that cleansing effect of the citrus.

Of course, you may want to use the lemon-cayenne water that is used in the master cleanse. This is probably the most highly effective cleansing drink that you can make. For this, you will need to mix: 2 Tablespoons lemon juice, 2 Tablespoons real maple syrup, about 1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 8 oz water. Mix it up and drink!

If you really want to take detox to the next level, you can do raw foods for a few days or even a week. The raw food diet is just the thing to get all of the nasty toxins out of your beautiful body. I, for one, can stand a day or so of raw food, but eventually I have to get back to warm, cooked foods. The raw food diet is just that….a diet of raw foods. Fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds are all allowed during a raw food diet, and their juices also.

The most successful detox plans are those that are planned. If you want to detox for a day, detox for a day. If you want to detox for a week or month, do that. But, plan it and make it something that you can stick to for that amount of time.

Your body will thank you for your great tender loving care! Next up, the last of the detox and purification installations…Detox For Your Mind.

Simple Detox Strategies

In keeping with the call of Coventina, the Goddess of Purification this week, let’s talk about some simple ways to detoxify the body. Today we will discuss a few easy ways to detoxify and purify the body on the outside.

Of course, most of us shower or bathe daily. However, there comes a time when we need to take the cleansing of the body a step further. A detox bath is a wonderful way to begin the purification process. There are many simple formulas to use to help you move toxins out of your body through the pores of your skin. And a long soak in a warm, relaxing bath just feels good.

Your body is bombarded daily by poisons and toxins. They can be absorbed through your skin, ingested in the food you eat, and they can enter your body just by breathing. Even those folks who are very careful to eat organic foods and clean their homes with natural cleaners are exposed to many toxins. We all can benefit from a detox bath from time to time.

The most simple of all detox baths is to add 1/2 cup Epsom salt and 1/2 cup baking soda (non-aluminum) to your bath. Sink into the warm water and relax. If you want a good smellin’ soak, just add a few drops of essential oil like relaxing lavender or calming clary sage.

You can take this detox to a whole other level with a few extras added in. Bentonite clay is a wonderfully powerful detox-er. You can make a paste of bentonite clay and a small amount of water. Rub the clay paste all over your body. This is sure to pull those nasty toxins out of your beautiful body!
Allow the paste to dry for about 5 minutes before immersing yourself in the bath.

Once you have shed the toxins, you may want to moisturize with organic coconut oil (the only moisturizer I use) with essential oils that are meant to purify. Purification oils include: thyme or valerian.

I hope you enjoy your detox and purification bath. I know that I do. Each time I do a detoxification purification bath I feel as if I have given by body a fresh start. And, oh how soothing this ritual can be!

Coming up in Thursday’s installment in our week of purification, we will explore detoxing and purifying on the inside………

Bright blessings!

SUNDAY ORACLE: Coventina

Coventina is the goddess of water. She protects and presides over streams, pools, lakes, rivers, etc. Coventina calls us to purification. Her oracle card states, ‘It is time for a cleansing detoxification of your body and mind.’

We all need detoxification from time to time. We can detoxify our bodies through consuming detoxifying foods and through detoxifying baths. We detoxify our minds by focusing on positive and uplifting thoughts and actions.

With Coventina’s help we can make lifestyle changes that our own intuition has been prompting us to make. This is a great time to begin to purge our cabinets and bodies of refined sugars, flours, and processed food. Maybe your individual change involves breaking an addiction. Coventina can help with that!

Purity in all forms is good for each of us, whether it be in our food or in our thoughts. I encourage you to take some extra care this week in what you eat. Help your body to become a little cleaner and healthier just by making small changes in your diet. Also, do some meditation and fill your mind (by what your read, watch, or think) with positive ideas, and influences.

Later in the week, I will be featuring posts that will give you ideas on how to detox the body and mind. So, tune in again and let’s get purified inside and out.

Bright blessings….
Cyndi

Sunday Oracle: Abundantia

Sunday Oracle

The Sunday oracle posts contain guidance for your week and mine through the choosing of an oracle card.  At this time, I am using the Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue, Ph.D.  Each Sunday I intuitively draw one card from the deck.  Of course, it is up to you as to how you want to use the information and guidance each card brings to your particular situation.

This week’s oracle: ABUNDANTIA

This is a wonderful goddess to work with at any time!  I mean, who doesn’t want prosperity flowing into their lives? The first week of this new year promises to be a terrific start to 2014.  Abundantia is a Roman and Norse goddess who will help you find some extra cash in the most unlikely places, so don’t be surprised to find a few extra dollars in that jacket pocket or in that purse your switching out! This may be just the week to play games of chance.  Hmmm, the lottery could very well be yours if you call upon Abundantia to help you choose the numbers.

Of course, cold hard cash is not all that this beautiful goddess can provide.  She will also help your ideas and innovations come to fruition. She will lend support in whichever area of life you are expecting to become prosperous.

Lastly, make sure you are open to receiving!  Expect good things to come your way this week and remember to thank Abundantia for her generosity when you do receive!

“The universe is pouring its abundance out to you. Be open to receiving.”
